Welcome to the new cyber-home of Vivid Motion Studios! In case you haven’t noticed, we’re now located at vividmotion.com. Previously we were located at vivid-motion.com.

I switched to a new host, DreamHost, because I was having trouble with my previous host. Plus DreamHost has so much more storage space and bandwidth. It’ll take me a couple of days to get the site up and running smoothly, so don’t be surprised if you get some error messages or if some files are missing. Also, if you try to download something and it’s quite slow, maybe come back in a day or two- it should be faster by that time.

Wow. I haven’t posted anything in quite a while. I’m sorry.
At least I have a few excuses:
this summer just whizzed by (it felt WAY TOO SHORT)
I got a new computer (I still haven’t transfered everything from my old computer – so the website files and settings weren’t set up on the new computer for a while)
and college started, so I have plenty of work now to keep me busy

I’ll set up a section for school work sometime, and once that’s set up I’ll post my latest work. Until then, just enjoy everything else on the site at the moment.

“Secret Agent Robot” is now up on the website! Check out the page on the right for more info on the movie, and a link to download it.

With both of my animations, “Techno Penguin” and “Secret Agent Robot”, I have compressed them in QuickTime using MPEG compression. This allowed the file size to be relatively small, and the quality is still fairly good. Does anyone have any advice on how I could compress them in a better way? I’d like to be able to compress my movies to about the same file size as they are now, but keep them as QuickTime files (I would like to be able to loop my animation tests). Please leave a comment if you have any suggestions/ideas. Thanks.

I’ll have some new animation tests or renders up soon… hopefully.

I have posted the “Techno Penguin: Special Edition” video on the website. Go to the Techno Penguin page on the right to check it out. I will post “Secret Agent Robot”, the latest animation I have completed, shortly.

I also have some new animation tests I’ve uploaded. The first one, here, is an updated head model. You can find the video of the original model in my previous post. The second animation test, here, is a walk test with the same character. Let me know what you think.

Please right click on the videos and choose “Download Linked File” (or whatever similar option your browser gives) from the list of options. They should be loop-able, however, since they are in MPEG format, you have to figure out how to loop them yourself. If you’re using QuickTime Player, choose “Loop” from the “View” menu.

I have a few animation tests that I quickly posted to the website. Check them out here and here. In the second test, I used the James Bond soundclip because I had already created a test (which you can see on the left in the video) with that soundclip. That character is not James Bond.

Meet the new Vivid Motion Studios website, version 3.0. It’s powered by WordPress, an awesome weblog tool. Now, It’s not only easier for me to update my website but it should also be easier for you to browse and find your way around the site. You can now add comments to news posts, there is also an archive of old posts and a search feature, and you can find RSS feeds on the side of the page. I’ll be moving over old content into the new site over the next few days, and I’ll be adding even more content.

Anyways, without further ado, go ahead and check out the new site. Make yourself at home. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the site. And feel free to comment on the new site or anything else in general.
