School Work

Here is a collection of work I have done for school projects. Please click on the images to view the videos.

AAU

First Semester

Computer Animation Production

6.8 MB QuickTime file

Our first project for the class was to create and design a logo.
I decided to create my logo in Maya, even though everyone else created theirs in After Effects. The song is “Exodus Honey” by Honeycut.

Another assignment we had during the semester was to recreate a building in Maya using photo references. We also had to texture and light the building, and finally composite it into a photo of the original. I decided to model the Century Theater in downtown Redwood City. The song is “Sam At the Lake” from the Transformers score by Steve Jablonsky.

26.7 MB QuickTime file

Here’s the final project from the class. We had to incorporate the building we previously modeled, along with a character that we designed, modeled and animated. We were also provided with an interior bar scene to use for the project. Credits are included in the video.

Experimental Animation

2.9 MB QuickTime file

An assignment for this class was to create a short animation using paper cutouts. We had to create a character with some sort of joints to allow them to move. I decided to create sort of a homage to the Tortoise and the Hare. I created the music in GarageBand.

8.6 MB QuickTime file

One of the group projects from this class was to create an animation using pixilation (sort of like frame-by-frame live action). Each of the group members had to do some filming, as well as act.

9.2 MB QuickTime file

In this class, we had to design and create our own characters to animate, complete with wire armatures. This assignment was to do a short character animation piece, which not only allowed me to familiarize myself with the limitations of the figure, but also served as a test piece for my final project (below).

8.1 MB QuickTime file

Here is the final project. We were required to combine two animation techniques we learned throughout the semester. I decided to combine cutout animation (the backgrounds and props) with clay animation (the character).

Photo Storyboarding/Super 8mm

22.2 MB QuickTime file

Here is the final project from this class. We had to have some sort of story (I decided to keep mine quite simple), and the project had to show some techniques or skills we learned from the class. Above is a poster I created for the film. Credits are included in the video.

All our photo storyboards were taken with a 35mm camera, and were transfered to slides. We did several in-class super 8mm projects, but none of them were transfered to DV. Only the final project was transfered to DV and edited.

more to come!
